If you empty a bucket into magma, nothing happens. If you empty a bucket into an empty space, the space turns into 1/7 water. When the 1/7 water falls on magma, it solidifies, hence: you have to drop the water in from at least 2 z-levels.

Huh, that's how you cool it down. I tried from one z-level, never really worked. Thanks for showing that it can be done with buckets of water. :D
