This human caravan wagon is so slow that I miss an entire trading session. The other merchants were packed up and ready to go by the time this snail actually reached the depot, and they promptly turned around and left the moment it arrived.
Actually, the hydra is trapped nearby in one of the many channels I've dug in front of my fortifications. I have no idea how it got down there (presumably punted by one of my military), but it couldn't get back out or hurt anyone - but it was canceling jobs. I tried to catch it, but I couldn't get my dwarves close enough to set up cage traps around it so I ended up simply killing it. It made some nice masterwork leather armor though!
