Semi-automatic Orcsicle maker by Vattic

Movie Description:

The most successful run of my test death trap.

Imagine the scene, your charging headlong into a dwarven fortress alongside your brother orcs when both the entrance and the exit are sealed. Water rushes in from the openings on your left and after it reaches waist height it flash freezes killing you all instantly.

All of the above at the pull of a few levers. When the freezing has been done pull the same levers in a different order and you can remelt the water drain it and open the corridor for further use.

Unfortunately a couple of Orcs tend to survive having been pushed onto the fortifications but it's only two levers and it's frozen again.

An in depth explanation of the Orcsicle makers workings (with pictures)

This thing is beautiful. How does it work internally? I take it there's magma on the next level down that gets drained or dropped or something to freeze the orcs, then replaced to thaw them? I'd love to see a map upload.

Kanddak you are correct. In fact the one in the video could be better designed and I have designed but not built the next version.

The following URL is for a post in a topic where I describe how it works in detail, with pictures, how it works. It also contains the design for my new and improved ice trap.

I like the way the water is conserved and recycled. Instead of pouring it off to evaporate, you could even put it into a cistern and make your defense system double as a water source on a map where you have no sourced water and depend on thawing ice.

that way your dwarves would be drinking orc tea

Very well done.
