Ceilingstoked - 262 Early Autumn by AtomicPaperclip

Map Description:

First major fort in the .31 series. 218 dwarves. My report on the use of burrows for segregated forts: Only useful for small forts, requires too much micromanagement. Assigning dwarves nicknames so you can keep track of where they belong, assigning beds in the correct area, assigning them to the burrow itself, NOT accidentally assigning them to another burrow, ensuring seeds get distributed to all necessary areas, etc.

Point of Interest: Lower-dining room

Filled with masterwork tetrahedrite and galena furniture, this is the place where the impoverished farmers hang out and eat. During emergencies the drawbridge can be raised, protecting the dwarves from all land threats. Food can be dropped in from the "Tree" - AtomicPaperclip

Δ 40. Dwarven "tree"
Dwarven attempt to conceal the drop point for giving supplies to sealed dwarves in the lower dining room. When completed it will be sealed at the bottom, only accessible through the military district. Made entirely of logs. - AtomicPaperclip
Δ 37. Mausoleum
8 dwarves and a dog, kept the Forgotten Beast at bay while the masons blocked them in, sacrificial themselves for the rest of the fort. The dog fought the Forgotten Beast for several years, before a proper military with proper equipment could be sent in to avenge the 8 dwarves. A small girl, only about 5 years of age at the time, also fought gallantly. She fought the Forgotten Beast alone, becoming a legendary fighter/striker until losing her right arm. Today she is grown, and with her brother, run the Fortress Guard. Their father is a retired mayor. Being the only survivor, "Lefty" chose to have her tomb surrounded by steel. Aside from this, all the other tombs are aluminum in the center, surrounded by gold. The dog Logem is held here as well, after being killed by a magma man. Made of clear glass from imported sand, gold, aluminum, and imported clear/crystal glass windows. - AtomicPaperclip

Δ 37. Roads
All roads are made entirely of gold (and covered in voracious cave crawler ichor from one voracious cave crawler). The road spans from the left side of the map, into the fort and the mausoleum. From the fort it goes over the bridge to the right side of the map. Used a lot of freaking gold bars. - AtomicPaperclip

Δ 32. Lower level workshops
This is where the impoverished dwarves work. All the workshops were rebuilt after the voracious cave crawler incident. Refuse is thrown into the lake. - AtomicPaperclip

Δ 32. Ye Old Fisherman's house
He constructed himself a house on the lonesome peninsula. He takes care of all of the raw fish cleaning. He fishes off the dock next to his house. - AtomicPaperclip

Instantly drains fps and top layer of water. Very effective. - AtomicPaperclip
Δ 30. Spontanenous drownings
You would be surprised how much damage 2/7 water from a pump can do. - AtomicPaperclip

Dug out in a dwarven manner from "natural" caverns. - AtomicPaperclip
