Goblins! ... Friendly Goblins!? Just as well, the expedition to find out what purple squares meant found their answer.
The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.
There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check
the
Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help
me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error
in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is
outside the bounds of the DataView
. Feel free to
report a problem
with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

You can download the compressed map file:
2010-05/hjd_uk-Clutchfountains-region1-1055-16699.fdf-map
but you will need the .NET version of
SL's DF Map Compressor
to convert to the .PNG image format.

In case you didn't know:
If you have a account then you can edit your points of interest to correct these sorts of embarrassing typos.
All creatures can walk on brooks, this is to simulate a shallow brook instead of a proper river as best possible in the game.

The mystery ramp is a tunnel - in adventure mode, you can use them to travel between goblin towers. I don't know if goblins will enter onto your map through there in fortress mode, though. Don't think so.

Damn, Fort Lost. Ambush while mason was finishing off a drawbridge that could have saved them all. :|.
