Friendlyarm - 312 Late Spring by Carcer

Map Description:

A small outpost with central water/magma distribution pipelines, a cage full of dogs and a disturbing number of legendary conversationalists.

Point of Interest: Water/Magma pipeline

These two pipelines carry water and magma from just below ground level to all the lower levels of the fortress. On each level is a control room with levers allowing the level to be cut off from the pipeline above it (via a floor hatch on the level above), access to the interior of the pipe for maintenance and expansion, and opening the floodgate to the drainage system, which consists of a set of drawbridges linked to the repeaters that automatically smash the fluids that flow into them when engaged, allowing relatively quick drainage of a given level to 1/7 depth. - Carcer

Δ 14. Magma Pumping Station
This water reactor powers a screw pump that forces magma from the magma pipe down the pipeline into the fortress pipes, allowing it to be much more quickly replenished after being drained for construction/maintenance work. Unfortunately the water reactor design was imperfect and loses water while in operation, so it only operates during and for a while after rainfall (drawing water from the murky pools at ground level above). - Carcer

These levers allow for the opening and closing of the floodgates that control the flow of water from the river into and out of the fortress moat. - Carcer
Δ 13. Repeater System
A set of three repeaters as described here. The leftmost is currently unused; the central repeater is connected to the water pipeline drainage drawbridges, and the rightmost to the magma pipeline drainage drawbridges. When the moat around the fortress is full, the repeaters are powered by draining water from it. - Carcer

Δ 11. Artifact Staute
Here is an artefact statue made out of native platinum by one of my miner/masons, but unfortunately you cannot see it since at the time of the export my dwarves were all too busy partying or throwing goblin remains into magma to care about things like rotting food in their dining hall. - Carcer
