Oldmetal - 202 Mid Autumn by ClsfdKidd

Map Description:

My precious dwarven honour is at stake, here. By Armok, when I set out with goals, I end up with results!

Here's my TODO list as it stands:
Finish the 1st bedroom pillar. (This is taking a while. My masons are lazy compared to my mining crew. 3 more levels to go.)
DONE! Dig out a barracks. (that's the flower design around the stairs)
Find the magma pipe. (where the $#@% is it!?)
Dig out some forges and pump some magma to where they can use it. (magma?!?)
Design and build the slave pits. (unsure of final design, thinking...)
DONE! Migrants making crap stonecrafts. Legendary miners leave behind trash, so clean it up!

I hope to have the list completed by winter's end. Wish me luck!

I can see how security is a problem. It's a neat design, though, and I can tell it's seriously labor intensive. What killed this fort?

Yes, security was supposed to be way inside the fort, after the entrance. Funny enough, lack of security was what killed it.
The high value of the carvings and roasts invited invaders, and the workshops under the ramps had dwarves out in the open when goblins showed up. It took too many years to carve out. Next time I'll have to do it quicker.

That has been my problem with more elaborate designs. You have to wall in fast before the first raid shows up. But then, how do you wall in quickly and then build elaborate Urist McMansions? Hm...
