Hard to believe ten years have now past...
An interesting year, for sure.
Accidentally flooded *both* of my obsidian farms during the year. Fortunately each side was flooded in a separate incident, so obsidian production wasn't hampered too much. Fortunately, both floods were also caught early enough so that the water feed could be cut and water damage minimized. Two more pets died and a mason almost lost his life in the obsidian farms as well. Guess the poor bastards'll never learn, heh...
Two modest sieges, ~45 and ~32 respectively. Lor, a champion with a nerve injury and rather weak skills (No-rank hammerdwarf) ended up taking a bolt to the head and bleeding to death almost instantly. There was one tense moment where Fath and Tun dodged into a murky pool while fighting a squad of crossbow goblins. Fortunately, the last standing member of their squad was able to take down the last few crossbow goblins and clear the way for my miner to get a ramp dug out.
Not a single goblin escaped from either of the sieges.
Progress on the spire has been substantial during this last year. All stockpile floors have been completed and I've begun the process of arranging the final stockpile layout. I've even managed to complete a sizable chunk of the dining level, which I wasn't expecting to even begin until the coming year.
The original mayor was *finally* reelected after sitting idle (Only health care and burial enabled) for the last several years. No more adamantine and two-hump camel bone mandates, huzzah!
I also learned that retracting bridges don't just drop items dumped on them. Instead, they just throw everything up to three tiles away from the bridge. There goes that design...
Oh, and at one point I had a ten page backlog of animals that needed to be butchered. Ended up having to switch four of my bone carvers (all legendary+5, so they didn't need to skill on the totems anymore) and having a total of six butcher shops running around to clock to finally cut it back to a single page.
A few slots still open, but there's not much else I really need to place. - Ashery
