Map Description:

Time marches on. I've gotten four migrants to help with the heavy moving. In fact, the temporary camp is now in a new place, much closer to Elderstone proper. The bridge over the bottomless pit is crossable with finishing touches being put in place. Merchants keep coming, only to be frustrated by a lack of a depot.

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

Δ 28. New Temporary Camp
The temporary camp was moved from the NW valley to up here, to be closer to where the main work is being done. Most everything gets done up here now, except for plant/wood gathering and farming.

Δ 24. Welcome!
This is the main entrance to Elderstone: a bridge that crosses over a bottomless pit. Behold the fine dwarfsmanship!
The fortress itself has yet to be dug out. I want to put some careful planning into these first bits, to make the fortress awesome.
Main thing I want to do, eventually, is to have two lava flows coming over the top and down the front, flanking the front door. May not happen for quite a while, but I need to prepare for it, leave space.
I'm considering putting 1-3 ballista inside, facing the bridge, to shoot down invaders. They're never hugely effective, but they are fun. The trade depot then goes above or below, with the barracks close by.
I'm open to suggestions! Note that, further down, Elderstone will be shaped to flare out a bit, but obviously you see what I have at the moment. - mattmoss
Δ 23. The SE Valley
During the first year, the dwarfs spent their time in the NW valley: farming, fishing, and chopping wood. Now that the temporary camp has been moved close to Elderstone (and can be found 5 Z-levels up and a bit to the north), this valley is closer. Plenty of wood, plants (incl. tubers!), and space for farming. - mattmoss
