Three years have passed since the demons were slain.
All of the raw Adamantine has been mined out and awaits either processing or masonry.
To pass the time, I've begun constructing a clear glass chamber above my entrance bridge to serve as battlements for my marksdwarves, who no doubt are growing restless from having nothing to kill.
The Elves have begun to misbehave, bringing nothing but cloth. In response, I have begun murdering them, once by magma (dropping them into my moat) and once by cave-in (allowing a single "Friendly" donkey to escape).
When I breached the glowing pit, several fires were started inside, preventing me from immediately looting it, though after a year had passed, two cages were seen to contain yet unrotten elf and human skins, which were promptly tanned into leather. At that point, I decided that they would be used for a great purpose.
One of my leatherworkers was recently taken by a fey mood, so I ordered her to use the elf leather as the main component of her artifact. As much as I would have preferred that she make a piece of leather furniture, she absolutely refuses to make anything unusual from it, aside from a musical instrument. Once I decide what the artifact shall be, I shall build a shrine at my fortress's entrance. - Quietust

Holy crap thats cool. How are you gonna get all that magma there? construct a big pumping tower?

I'll build a pump tower extending all the way to the top of the map, then direct its output into a tube that goes down to ground level, through a short tunnel, and into an opening at the bottom of the pyramid. Pump pressure should allow it to fill all the way to the top.

That's a fantastic fortress. Do the fortifications in the tower cap farm actually drain water?

Absolutely - in fact, that's exactly why I built them.
