Hanging Gardens of Swordbaldness - 221 Early Spring by MrFake

Map Description:

Year 4 of construction.

Things are moving more slowly now. I'm still a little unsure of where things need to go in this new fort, but I have come to the conclusion that there should at least be a stairway. So, I've wasted some time making a stairway off the west side of the main hall.

Point of Interest: Main Staircase

( 221 Early Spring → 224 Early Summer )

This thing is a big headache. It takes forever to build each floor, a lot of stone and micromanagement goes into construction, and it's murder on path lengths.

I like the look though, and I'm still debating whether to put a waterfall down the center, or to preserve a section of the desert floor as a little display case (complete with animal specimens, naturally). - MrFake

Wow. This is a very nice map. I have been working on one for a while now, and I hope I can post it soon. It is still not exactly the way I like it. Right now I am focusing on killing off some of my dwarves...there are too many to keep track of lol.

What's the goal of this fort?
.. flooding the world?

What in the world is Phase 2?!

Phase 2 tests seem to involve a bridge, a pressure plate and a long drop. Somewhat disconcerting.

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-08/mrfake-Swordbaldness-region1-spr-221-221-2.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
