• ¶ 17. Magma reservoir

  Once construction is complete, this reservoir will be filled with magma. Then when the next seige comes along, we'll see just what happens when a load of magma is dumped ontop of a glacier. And the fortress entrance... - Phlamethrower

  The space underneath the entrance drawbridge now leads to this ditch, located near the magma pumps. Although the climate is too cold for the magma pipe to fill the ditch naturally, the nearby pump should be more than capable of spraying any occupants with magma (providing it's turned on!) - Phlamethrower

• 15. Fortified entrance

  Initially carved out of raw ice, the entrance is in the process of being rewalled with rock and fortified. - Phlamethrower

  The archery range has been relocated from its temporary location to this new, more permanent one. It should give the marksdwarves a good view of the creatures that enter and leave the fort. - Phlamethrower

  Iron salvaged from dead enemies is being used to construct the magma pumps. - Phlamethrower

  A pit directly over the magma pipe will be an effective waste management system for the fort. - Phlamethrower

  This farm plot would have been larger and more impressive, had the meltwater created by the magma underneath not flowed back towards the magma pipe and formed obsidian, cutting off the magma supply. - Phlamethrower

  This time a wall of rock was kept between the meltwater and the magma pipe. However low magma pressure at the top of the pipe, combined with the extreme cold, meant that only a small amount of ice melted before the cooled and dried. - Phlamethrower

  The plan to trap the fire imps and use them to melt ice failed. But now that the imps are dead, the farmers were able to move in and plant crops ontop of the muddy rock from the failed ice melting operation. - Phlamethrower

  It appears there are small amounts of sand trapped in the ice. Unfortunately the staircase does not function as a sand collection zone. - Phlamethrower

• 10. Metalworks

  Assuming the miners are able to locate some metal ores, these metalworks will provide ample weapons and armour for the military. - Phlamethrower

• 9. Bedrooms

  Successful trading of rock crafts has resulted in many wood logs being imported, which in turn has resulted in many beds being made.
  
  All the bedrooms are located next to the magma pipe so the dwarves don't freeze to death while they sleep. - Phlamethrower

  It looks like some of the magma has risen up out of the hole that was dug down into the magma pipe. Hopefully I can clean it up so I can finish constructing the pump that was meant to be down there. - Phlamethrower
• Pit of oblivion

  ( 305 Early Spring to onwards )
  The end result of operation GET WELL SOON #1 was a hole in the bottom of the map, through which all the water promptly vanished. My guess is that the pit was formed by the ice hitting the bottom of the map, creating an ice floor, and then the ice melting, destroying the floor tile (much like the floor tiles of the other ice cave-in areas were destroyed).
  
  At the moment the hole is sealed with a floor tile, but there's no guarantee it won't be put to use as a garbage disposal at some point in the future. - Phlamethrower
