Early Autumn, we finished the rails on our river bridge. It doesn't look as neat (we'll have to do the other side as well) but it's a damn site safer.
Next, our migrant jeweler was woken from his dreams by a strange mood, and withdrew from society. Because he just stood still, we ordered the construction of a green glass jeweler's workshop around him to see if it would inspire him to work.
Sure enough, Mid-Autumn we finished the workshop and he sprang into life, running around the fortress gathering up pieces. After collecting a rough Opal he sat in his workshop grumbling about gemstones so I ordered more rough glass made... but it wasn't the desired type.
We have Rose Quartz, Turquoise, Rock Crystal, Raw Green Glass, Emerald, Diamond, but none of these will suffice for the two remaining pieces he wants. I hope for his sake we are able to locate some or I fear he will go mad.
While trying to sort out his problems, we finished the rails on the bridge and placed our first bridge over the chasm.
Late autumn saw some new migrants arriving swelling the ranks to 41.
Ah, just before winter rolled in, the jeweler went stark raving mad. Shame.

( 1053 Early Autumn to onwards )
Crop planting has started, and the installation of the green glass floodgates (which look way cooler than regular floodgates) has been finished. Final touches to the walls are being performed by the miner right now. - matryx
( 1054 Early Spring to onwards )
Engraved each year by a dedicated historian, these rooms will progress into the mountain as the fortress ages.
1053's showed images of squares, dwarves travelling, dwarves labouring, and several pictures of stars.
1054's showed dwarves talking, walking, travelling and one image of a dwarf withering away.
Also oddly was an image of a dwarf embracing two goblins...?? And the yearly submissive demon image. - matryx

More glass blocks than I expected went into the production of this. - matryx
