Anger - 203 Late Spring by Lemunde

Map Description:

My dwarves seem to be quite happy with this fortress. Plenty of ale, plenty of food. Only enough private rooms for the first half that showed up though. The rest have to sleep in the barracks. If they don't like it they can leave.

No plump helmets. All my crops are grown outside. Strawberries, prickle berries and fisher berries. A good balance of variety and they all make some decent alcohol. Now if I could just get those elves to bring me some sun berries...

You should put that Microcline Bed into one of the dwarves rooms. It'll make some use out of it, and will also turn that dwarves room into a personal palace. I tend to place it in the room of the dwarf who made it.

Δ 16. Fun with traps...
A small array of 10x green glass serrated disc traps. A whole mess of monkeys tried to run through there. There were no survivors. - Lemunde

It's always interesting seeing some of the things my dwarves decide to make when they get in one of their moods. I once saw a child make a table out of turtle bone. This one was made by a butcher of all things. - Lemunde
Δ 15. Liquor Storage
I make it a habit to keep my liquor segregated from my food. This keeps my dwarves from hanging out in the food storage area and gives me a better idea of how much liquor I have in stock. I've also developed a little RP custom where I give three or four barrels away to dwarven and human caravans as a sign of good will. They always seem to appreciate it, though I don't think it really has much effect on the game. - Lemunde
Δ 13. Workshops
In the upper left corner are two wood burning furnaces, a glass furnace and a kiln which I haven't gotten around to using yet. I usually go with glass as my primary high quality export. I haven't gone beyond green glass yet but I'm going to try to for this game.

To the right of that is my metal smithing area. I don't usually make metal working a priority but I came across some ore so I decided to put it to use. I use it to make cheap copper bolts and serrated discs to supplement my glass ones.

Below that is a mechanics, stone worker's and crafts workshops. I keep the crafts workshop churning out bone and shell crafts. Good stuff for trading with elves. I have another one on the upper level churning out bone bolts.

Then at the bottom there's the leather, jeweler and bowyer workshops. A carpenter's workshop is on the upper level near my wood stockpile. Near that is a fish cleaner, butcher and tanner workshops. And of course there's also the still churning out all sorts of fun drinks.

I don't bother with cloth. If my dwarves need clothing down the road I'll either trade for it or make it out of leather. Most of these workshops aren't being used very often. I keep them around until I absolutely need something. - Lemunde
Δ 11. A Grand Dining Hall
A dining hall any dwarf would be proud of. Plenty of seats for every dwarf in my fortress. (I set the population cap to 30, although many more than that seems to have shown up) Inscribed on one of the walls is a tale of an unfortunate goblin kidnapper who got turned into lunch meat when he stepped into one of my traps. - Lemunde
