The magmachannel took a BIT longer than planned, but now that it's finished, I've run into a bit of a problem.
When I dump magma into the sea, it does make an obsidian wall, but it doesn't collapse to the lower underwater z-level, as planned.
Edit: This project is now scraped and Silverhall (http://www.mkv25.net/dfma/map-5859-silverhall) has taken it's place as my underwater fortress.

Yes, wood is going to be a problem, so I'll have to do without it for a couple of years before I've imported large enough quantities.
Hopefully I should be able to get the obsidian walls up and begin pumping in five years or so (I'm only going to have seven dwarves until I get the underwater fortress up and running)
