Tomeheaven - 81 Early Spring by Razin

Map Description:

Another year, another report to her Majesty, eh? Good to see you old friend. We have much to discuss... keep your voice down, lest those damned nobles notice you haven't grovelled at their feet today, never mind that your just arrived. We have much to talk about regarding your report and...other things.

Point of Interest: The Curse of Nobility

When you head to sleep tonight, be sure to ask one of the Fortress Guard to point you to an empty room. That empty noble's quarters you've been staying in has since been snatched up by those whining layabouts. Personally, I'd recommend you sleep in the Bunker, as the only available rooms in the warrens are either the unfurnished ones on the second level (near that nagging tax collector, or the furnished rooms in the second set of hallways on the low level. This is something you should avoid if you can, and the Baroness and her consort have taken up the two rooms opposite one another.

Oh, and if you If you have any issues and you can't find me, be sure to talk to the Administrator, not the mayor. Just be sure to knock first, as he gets rather annoyed with people barging in. This probably has something to do with all the clerical trickery that goes into forging the tablets to convince the Count and her tax collector their destructive "capitalism" is being adhered to. Tomehevean was built as a collective effort, and it's going to stay that way. His modest office is off his bedroom, near the mayor's rooms.

The mayor is getting rather aristocratic of late. His third reelection is probably getting to his head. At least we didn't tell him about our plans... If you get in trouble with one o the other nobles the Dungeon Master will usually agree to trying to use his noble status to talk the others nobles out of their fits. He rarely makes demands of his own, and works in the forges very regularly. A birth-noble more for the people then their mayor! What's this kingdom coming to?

Also, If you happen to be forced into contact with the Consort, he'll probably demand to know where his cabinets are. Just tell him they'll be ready soon, and that he don't need to visits the forges to oversee their building. We've been making cabinets out of metal, showing them off, and making a big show of marching them off with armed escort to "safekeeping," where we melt them down and make a different looking set. His undwarfly fascination wouldn't be so aggravating if he actually used the cabinets for something...as far as we can tell, he just likes being presented with things and can't think of anything more creative. - Razin

Construction is well underway, I'm sure the queen will be pleased with news of its progress. A warning has been issued that staircases built on successive levels can be hazards for dwarves who may slip, or be pushed, from the top; as such my forts employ either a central spiral stair, or a succession of alternating up/down stairs.

Good work defending the hillside, its always challenging trying to close the holes around a mountainhome when your back is against a rolling hillside.

I like the emphasis on diamonds in construction as opposed to the more traditional squares and rectangles. Very cool!

Thanks! I'm not sure what I would do without this particular tile set, the smooth diagonal walls really help open up more design variety.
