It's been ten years (two weeks real time) and my fortress is almost halfway to becoming the castle i envisioned it to be. This fortress has turned out great for being on a map without magma, sand, or river.

So, yeah. with a pop limit of 75 i haven't encountered any nobles or kings, but when i do, this is where they'll live. The northmost room is the kings throne room. Every ounce of gold in my fort has gone into that room. It has like 12 gem windows made of rubies (THey are very plentifull in this fort :D) - magic dwarf

Indeed, stone is a bastard to get. Feel lucky you are not restricting yourself to a very specific mining system with support columns every couple of tiles and is a bastard to designate.

I'm kind of interested why you decided to embark somewhere without a river? Having a moat is, like, classic ^^

Hey, don't let them bug you about the Mickey thing. Maybe Armok the Blood God loves mice! Maybe the dwarfs are big John Bonham fans! This is a great above-ground fort, and breeding jaguars is a nice touch. Can you train them to be War Jaguars, or does that require modding the raws?
