As long as there is "empty space" between the well and the water source, creatures will not crawl up through it. If the well was on level 13, then there would be problems.

I have Ghetto Boyz' "Still" running through my head. This was awesome.

I was forced into the battle after spidey decided "yeah, I wanna eat the Trader who's going down into the mineshaft to retrieve rough demantoid"...
