Castlecrowded - 204 Mid Summer by Kutan

Map Description:

TOO MANY DWARVES. I just recently got my dungeon master and he thinks he's hot shit. Story: My elite marksdwarf gave birth.. Shortly after, a Giant Desert Scorpion entered and she pursued after recently slaughtering a half-dozen or so monkies (low on bolts). Stupidly, after running out, she proceeded to try to wrestle the giant scorpion alone with baby in arm.. Long story short, I think her leg is still lying near where the battle took place and her baby is motherless.

It doesn't look that cramped, what's with the underfloor heating system?

Looks to me like you are ready for a LOT of forges.

That squiggly of magma was supposed to be there so magma pipe baddies couldn't navigate their way into my fortress, but I gave it up because it took a LOOOONG time for the magma to even fill up in that straight away.

Instead of knocking down the wall, carve a fortification. This will keep the baddies in the pipe away from the magma stream.

And if you want to protect yourself from spawns, you have to carve (don't construct!) a second fortification next to your pool. Walls don't melt, so you just need to maintain an original block to carve into a fortification, and then construct walls around it. Since magma flows so slowly, there should be plenty of time to make the walls.

Doh! I didn't even think about that, Kidd. Thanks for the suggestion but I don't plan on loading my last save (3 years ago).
