Nestled in a temperate valley with a light sprinkling of trees, the Crewed Handles broke ground on their fortress. They drew names from a cap and the fledgling fortress was christened Mafolirtir, or "Chamberdangle."
It is now Autumn. Our fellow Dwarves from Mamotatir have arrived to trade with us. We were able to acquire an anvil, a small portion of alcohol, and a few other supplies by trading away some obsidian mugs that we had our mayor encrust with rubies we found in a slab of bauxite located south of the magma pipe.
Work has finally begun on some proper living quarters, and our miners just recently located lignite. All that's needed is some iron ore and we can begin properly arming ourselves.
The trees are so pretty this time of year, but we dare not go out. Some Fire Imps have been up to no good around the mouth of the magma pipe, and most of us remember what happened at the last fortress we worked at...
