Fountaintheater - 221 Early Winter by Unbeltedsundew

Map Description:

Not quite at the end of the year. Things really are starting to slow down, all becuase of thousands of excess stone that Im throwing away. I know I could hide it, but that would just bother me more, so before I get any of the water flowing I have to clear hundreds of these stupid little piles of stone and dump em in to the chasm or lava. I really wish there was an excavate function that got rid of it automaticly....

I only have three miners working this dig and they do it quick enough that my +50 or so haulers and engravers cannot keep up. And of course three seasons are interupted by trades upon whom my fortress is reliant for survival. Although I finally had to break down and build a temporary farm plot scince there are so many immigrants.

Point of Interest: Food Production complex

Starting on the top floor here, this is the future of all the forts food production. I've tried to optimize the floors for product flow up to these strogage rooms. Its taking a really long time to get this set up because of the plumbing involved. Once thats in order I think getting the rest of the working spaces going will be much quicker. - Unbeltedsundew

Nice fort.
Which tile set is that?

Thank you.

Its my own tile set that I'm working on to fill my hankering for a high resolution set, which doesn't bother me and still relates back to the original in acceptable ways, and in which I dont have to replace accents, and that isn't as ugly as hell. Its 20x20 but not ready for release yet.

The tileset is nice, though a bit hard for me to decipher. Are those workshops above the magma?

Sorry to hear about the rotten luck this year. Losing so many dwarves would have broken me, I am sure.

Yeah, the set is far enough away from the original that it takes some getting used to, the floors and the wall pillars the "O" ones are hard to seperate visualy. Also, while the fancy floors are nice they are also fairly dominant.

There are three magma smelters to the left and three magma forges to the right.

Nice tileset, especially the barrels ^_^

Nice looking fort as well, shame about the towercaps though. The library is a nice idea, though I can't help but think it will generate pointless 'check chest' jobs (Unless those are just containers and not cabinets).

The cat trap is a nice idea, and I remember seeing a similar one somewhere else, let me see if I can find it... Ah, here we go: http://mkv25.net/dfma/poi-7877

You can download the compressed map file: 2008-12/unbeltedsundew-Fountaintheater-region3-221-30648.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
