Paddlebeach - 205 Late Summer by Jong89

Map Description:

A rather ambitious oceanside fortress. I plan to construct all permanent structures with obsidian blocks. Just because its incredibly extravagant as well as potentially unlimited. The main feature is to be the walled harbour.

Point of Interest: Water pouring

The magma pouring is proceeding quite slowly, so I've decided to jump the gun and begin pouring water. The masons are already hard at work again after a season of slacking. - Jong89

19. Primitive defence

Our dwarves are in a horribly exposed position. We have plenty of dogs, but I've set the dwarves to building something a bit more solid. I probably will turn invasions off so I can concentrate on construction. My site is after all extremely far from any goblin civilizations. Those weapon traps contain 10 obsidian short swords each. I wonder if they are effective... - Jong89

15. First casualty

I forgot to cover one of the sections I drained, and a mason fell in and drowned. The nobles are really unhappy about his burial arrangements. I wonder if they are suggesting something to me? - Jong89
18. Overview

The scale of the fortress is immediately apparent. Visible here is the outer and inner moats. The middle circle will be filled with ocean in the distant future, while a large tower will occupy the centre of the entire edifice. - Jong89
18. Temporary worksites

These will all be water tiles in the final fortress. You can also see the holes from the test wells I made for penetrating the aquifer. Somewhere around here is the centre of the fortress. - Jong89
3. Magma extraction tower

The new and improved extraction tower removes magma from the third lowest level of the map. - Jong89
