Aboveground, I'd say make one pump tower at the first major cliff you find going east.

If underground, you could also dig some cistern rooms for wells and the like. Since water is constantly flowing, you wont need to worry about wells going dry.

For pump towers i prefer the stacked design.

I have to say, Channeledthunder is an awesome name. You didn't get that from the random name generator, did you?

Thanks for the pump advice and the wiki link, Dakira. I'm going to try to go aboveground, simply because that's more of a challenge and more impressive when its completed.

As for the name of Channeledthunder, I just pressed the generate name button until I got something I was happy with, which I also did for Faithfulaxe.

Faithfulaxe self destructed in an orgy of violence after some goblins barged in and trashed the place. It was quite tragic. Perhaps it was for the better, the population was getting out of hand.

I'll probably reclaim right after this fort.
