Shieldgears - 1056 Early Spring by Markavian

Map Description:

Construction of the fort has begun! The brook has been fully excavated, and the flood pumps turned back on, gradually filling the valley with water. I'll test the resevoir flood pumps soon, but the construction seeems to functioning as intended now. Sadly, two dwarves were lost due to melanchony after being possessed, I suspect a lack of clear, or crystal glass to be the problem. Also, a dungeon master appeared, though I am not sure where from. He was complaining about the kingly throne room of the mayor, his pleas are being ignored for the time being.

Point of Interest: Magma Bridge Entrance

( 1056 Early Spring → onwards )

As soon as the lattice bridging the magma vent was complete work began on carving out a proper fortress down into the depths of the mountain. - Markavian

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

What character set/title set and color theme you using?

Hey AcidWeb, I'm using a mix between my own tileset and Sphr's graphics - you can download it from the list of user graphic sets page on the wiki.

I love the Big Square Quarry. Proper dwarf. :)

Beautiful lake you have going there.

Infact, beautiful all around.

It looks very peaceful, too. No rotting goblin corpses, no menacing walls or traps.

Wow. What a very nice planned out fortress you have got there. I think I might favorite it.

I rather enjoy this fortress. Waiting to see the dome completed too!

Submitted by: Wirrit - 2008-05-24 to 1057 Early Spring

...I had never thought of making a dome.

I may have to try that, someday.

Amazing, this is by far my favorite fort so far. Great engineering feats as well as beauty.

I love this kind of fortress; with "this kind" I intend those fortress who look like they're from a plausible fantasy world: every building seems like it's carefully projected in all its details and shape.
I love this map, and I hope to see updates in the future!

p.s. wouldn't it be nice to make somekind of repository for "believable and detailed fortresses"
