Roariron - 1055 Early Spring by I3erent, Kagus

Map Description:

And so ends another year for Roariron, the madhouse of twisting corridors and unusual designs. The demons of the pit have been vanquished, bedrooms have been provided for the people, and newcomers are no longer sacrificed in a religious cleansing.

I added the barracks, archery range, Demonhammer, and catapult firing range, as well as putting beds into a few rooms and placing that lovely little tomb North of the barracks. I also over-flooded the farms, but that's okay since they won't be needed for another few years or so.

Okay, I've done approximately fourteen levers, and two were already explained before I decided to undergo this endeavor. As for any more levers... Well, it's up to the rest of the team to explain. I've done my part, and my turn hasn't even come yet! O.O

Δ 22. The Sculpturedfists monument
Here is the most holy monument to Kezat Sculpturedfists, the presiding god of Roariron. Well, at least he's presiding now, after the great religious culling enacted by a certain clerk...

It houses a few burial chambers in the axe blade (near the top), as well as an artifact adamantine boot showcase. There used to be a smithy at the very top, but I destroyed it and used the adamantine anvil (*sob*) to make a new magma smithy.

And yes, those are adamantine statues and an adamantine door. All done by novice metalworkers. - Kagus

This is a fun. It menaces with spikes of uncertainty, and is adorned with hanging droplets of moisture. It contains an image of a hallway and assorted creatures. The hallway is being flooded by the assorted creatures. - Kagus
Δ 19. Levers Explained Pt. 2
The lever with it's own room is the lever for the, now used, Demonhammer, and is now useless, and fit for pruning. The other two levers operate the bridges on this level. The granite lever to the north operates the northern bridge wall, and the basalt lever to the south operates the bridge in front of the staircase. (Which should be widened :P) - Devath

I hope that's what those are... Little hard to tell from this distance if it's a goblin, a groundhog, or a mountain goat.

Still, regardless of what they are, having a massive stone dropped on your head can severely hinder your living capabilities. I'm not worried. - Kagus
Δ 15. Levers Explained Pt. 1
Aight, done some experimentation,and these two levers have been conclusively labeled. The microcline lever on the left operates the bridge wall to its left, and the diorite lever on the right operates the irrigation cistern floodgate one level down. Very important info, indeed. - Devath

This is where every poor dwarf who did not worship Kezat Sculpturedfists found themselves. The walls will silently shriek for eternity with their murdered cries.

Also labeled the Hall of Death, this room contains a grand total of 5 levers.

The northern microcline lever is linked to the bridge right below it, the granite lever on the left in the middle pair is linked to another bridge, also right next to it. The microcline lever on the middle right doesn't seem to do anything, and at the bottom, the granite lever on the right controls the two orthoclase bridges, while the basalt lever to it left also appears to do nothing. - Devath
Δ 11. Useless HOD, and the Demonhammer
Here we have the Hallway o' Doom I was setting up before realizing it would be utterly useless, since funnelling the demons into it would be impossible without dwarven casualties. It currently contains the recently-deconstructed silver spikes I was going to use against the demons. Hopefully, they'll find some use later on.

Down below lies the Demonhammer chamber, and below that lie the effects of said Demonhammer. Not bad for an experimental weapon, wouldn't you say? - Kagus
Δ 5. Last of his kind...
Here we have ol' Helmcancer, the last surviving frog demon. Oddly enough, he seems to have survived the hammering without so much as a bruise. I'm guessing he fell on top of one of his squishy brethren. - Kagus
Δ Levers Explained Pt. 3
So, here we have a pair of levers, and stuff. Anyways, they are, confusingly, both made of granite, even though placed in close proximity to one another. The one on the lower right controls the floodgate that allows water through the furthest right of the floodgates on this level, which floods the fishing pond, which may also be used as a water source, obviously. The other lever, like many others in the fort, seems to do nothing. It could be linked to doors or something like that... From its location, I assume it has something to do with the irrigation system. - Devath

Okay, here are two more levers. To date, I have been unable to discover what they do, so there you go. - Devath
Δ Roariron
This is Roariron. At the very, very bottom of the world. Why, I don't know. I've been working on this fortress for an entire in-game year, and I still don't know the layout.

You can see the new bedrooms to the South. The four golden cages represent what used to be the jail (eek), and the entrance to the Captain of the Guard's chambers, one of the two bedrooms originally in this fort. The other belongs to the mayor Obok and his wife, Kadol. She's the one who's engraved every bleedin' chunk of stone in the place. Their bedroom is off to the East, next to the magma pipe. It is here you can often find Obok pounding away at his precious mechanism.

To the North, we have the barracks, archery range, catapult firing range, catapult stone stockpile (I detest idle peasants) and the general workshops. There is one craftsdwarf workshop, one which I replaced one of the many carpenter's workshops with. The rest of the craftsdwarf workshops are up top, situated right next to the trade depot. I built this one down here so our Captain of the Guard could make the military some bone bolts. - Kagus
