The tower continues.
I built a tomb for the dungeon master, and began scavenging the countryside for ore and trees. Planning for a kitchen / dining hall has begun and I'm about to mine out the reservior and outflow pumps.

haha, it wasn't the cave swallows at all. winter has arrived and the south end of the brook has frozen. Suddenly everything runs quickly.
I'll aim my wrath at the river and block it up. I'm glad no innocent cave swallows got hurt.

Ow, yes, your map is huge- compression can only do so much! I hope you can live with the filesize limit for the time being!

Yeah it's no problem. I'll run image magic on it and remove the bottom half when I need to show more than 256K.

Really love your way down/stairway/ramp thingy. Thats definitely going to be a part of my next fortress.

I should warn you it's horribly inefficient. With everyone walking on the inside of the ring all the time and not avoiding each other it might as well be a long single tile corridor with ramps. With a few floors it might not be so noticable, but you can't make people going to different places use different paths like you can with a normal block staircase.
When it's all hollowed out with the tower done it'll look great inthe visualiser though :)

Wow... This was really well thought out and put together. You mentioned zombie eagles. Exactly what kind of biome is/was this? Sinister? Haunted? It looks/looked great. Did you ever get anywhere with it?

I got a bit further, but it runs at 15fps and I just don't have the patience. There's too many z-levels, and I think that central spiral is driving the path finding algorithm crazy.
I still have the save, maybe when I get a new machine it'll be fast enough to pick up again.
