Due to an oddity in Dwarven zoning law, it is illegal to dig or build walls on the edge of fortress property. Bridges are fine, though, so this upright bridge funnels any sieges through the "obstacle course" at the front entrance. A goblin force that attempted this path before the bridge was built is now mostly at the bottom of the moat, courtesy of the fortress archers. - nigelseaworthy

-A barracks for the Abirdeduk 2nd Infantry Squad, "The Speechless Avalanches", under Captain Rith Winterwalls.

-An archery range for the 1st Fortress Guard "The Charcoal Tongs", under Captain Sigun Bridgeopen the Insensitive Ivy of Haze.

-The range is also used by the 1st Archery Squad, "The Boulders of Lulling", under Captain Doren Galleypulleys. The squad was decimated by the forgotten beast Thiliri recently. - nigelseaworthy

Δ 129. 1F - Kel's Bridge
Named for Kel Hammerowns, chief mason and founding dwarf. His emergency high-speed wall building has saved the fortress from its own gross negligence on two known occasions. - nigelseaworthy

Current home of Duke Ast Routsalve, who keeps winning the mayoral race in a landslide despite his bizarre obsession with flasks. - nigelseaworthy

Only a few trolls and some crafty snatchers and thieves have ever made it past this point. Originally the trade depot was behind here, but it was moved behind an underground tunnel after the embarrassing but hilarious death of the outpost liason from Lelmurist. - nigelseaworthy

All the alpaca bone figurines and diorite mugs a civilization could ever need. The separation of an "elf kosher" section has stopped on broker Doren Gearedgales' recommendation, after he astutely noticed that the elves have nothing worth trading anyway. - nigelseaworthy

Cloth, wood, leather, bone and craftsdwarf workshops.

Fishing sustained the fort in its early years, but was restricted after somebody got knocked in during a goblin ambush, and about four other idiots drowned trying to "recover" his items. Many of the fortress's best soldiers and administrators started as unemployed fisherdwarves and hunters. - nigelseaworthy

The heart of the fortress, connecting the stills, kitchens, lye shop, underground farms, butcher's and fishery.

Named for founding dwarf and master cook Athel Pickgates. A true renaissance dwarf, she also became a legendary stoneworker and made the famous ring "The Split Brilliances." - nigelseaworthy

This fortress is pretty fucking cool. I love the way you designed (or rather, didn't) most of the floors - it seems very haphazard. The founders hall is pretty badass, and an idea I plan to steal. I look forward to future maps!
