Tamedearth - 51 Early Autumn by Itnetlolor

Map Description:

Welcome to TamedEarth.

First step is obvious, let's tame the earth. As you'll notice from high in the heavens, the land has been eviscerated from corner to corner, on our side of the river. This is our main security feature, forcing unwarranted visitors to head to where we know they will come. Sure, this may also force wagons to take a slightly longer route as well, but we're working on that.

The first stewp, to tame the earth, has finally completed after 3 seasons of work. My dwarves are getting impatient for some proper housing, but at least now they'll be guaranteed safety, in a way we can better control without having to shut off invaders. We also had to hold back on building our fort and making expensive trade goods as to have our security production go off without a hitch.

More will come later when we eventually take on the volcano.

Point of Interest: Main Feature= The Great Divide (Top Level)

This is my main security feature. I literally cut the mountain apart in order to force any invaders, as well as trade caravans, to the two portals down on the bottom level of the surface map.

This great divide covers the whole perimeter, on my side of the river, 5 tiles away from the very edge where I can build from the cut areas inward. Meaning I can modify the path of incoming visitors, be they invaders, migrants, or traders. I had this in mind so I can setup decoy trade depots so I can still have wagons visit, even though access to my main base, for the time being, is still closed off from the outside world. A few levers later, provided I deem transit safe, and they are re-routed into my base, instead of the decoy station.

Not bad huh? A nice little exploit I am proud to have working so far. Now to find a way to make this work against climbers in the next version... - Itnetlolor
