The makings of my latest Fortress. I'm kinda sad the metalsmith didn't bring along another immigrant with him as he normally does. Food stores are ok, and no attacks yet even after unwillingly having reached the chasm.

I've always had a male metalsmith, and if a companion, a male one, so I'm assuming that the metalsmith has an assistant and hoping I'm right.
It seems to be wealth-related; if I make a lot of valuble stuff (which here could be only high quality meals and rock mugs), I usually get an assistant, but if I don't, I usually don't.
