Rithlutolon - 6 Early Summer by Niding

Map Description:

The dwarves have had a hard run so far. Being blessed with bituminous coal at-site helped little with no weaponizable metals in the upper layers. Thankfully, a generous ammount of native gold has helped supplying the fort through trade.

Outrageously many children have been snatched, both by the sinister goblins and their draconian associates, the drakhs, but that doesn't seem to discourage romantically inclined couples. Out of 96 current townsfolk, 52 are children.

The fort struggled with a vampiric infiltrator for a while. Thanks to subtlety, he was able to off five dwarves before being discovered, and even shifting the blame onto the poor settlement broker. The chatbat died in her lead cage before her 201 day sentence passed, unlike the perpetrator himself, who, aside from some slightly negative thoughts, felt none the worse from his imprisonment.

The next two slayings were the straw that broke the camel's back, though. Finally being sentenced to a sound hammering, Kib Beralåth ended up suffering two broken legs and a crushed shoulder, even with his superhuman durability. Left to his misery in his cell post-beating, the injuries eventually took its effect, and after having had the wounds fester for a year, the vampire died of blood loss.

The well placed in the town dinner hall had been a lifesaver in early seasons, as random thieves and kidnappers did some work on various members of the expedition. What the crafters did not forsee, was the coming of Moslëx the Shame of Chilling. While the militia scrambled to meet the monstrosity at the keep tradegrounds, Moslëx chose stealth and entered the fort through the well tunnel, coming upon unprotected and unsuspecting dwarven civilians. It would surely had been a terrible bloodbath, had it not been for the engraver Udil Genioushandles. Without any concern for his own safety, he wrestled and fought with the beast on the dining hall tables, buying time for his kin to flee and the militia to reach.

With death, Udil's sacrifice would have been a glorious end indeed, but by some miracle, he survived the confronation with only slight bruisings. Praising his gods Tölún Joyousochre, Tobul and Zefon Romancerose the Beautiful Youth, he was brought to the infirmary for tending.

With that challenge behind us, the fort is looking good. The keep walls are almost finished, and the bridge guardhouse houses the militia vanguard. The duchy has resisted all attacks so far, although at heavy losses. Even so, everything is set for a prosperous future.

But why are Udil and so many people nauseaus all of a sudden?
