Teethdiamonds - 16 Late Summer by Jojo

Map Description:

An obsidian tower in Fortress Defense Mod with all enemies enabled, five years after founding. Construction is proceeding slowly as defense and military is high priority. The last siege included several squads of nightwings, jotuns, goblins, frogmen and a group of ferric elves.

Point of Interest: The ground level of the tower

This is where 127 dwarves live. Rooms and workshops have been constructed on the fly and are temporary until more of the tower is built. - Jojo

Δ 79. The upper tower level
The missing roofs proved to be a major problem during the last siege wave which included several (flying) nightwing squads.

From here you also have clear view on the snazzy spiral ramps design.

Δ 78. Garbage compactor shaft
Garbage is compacted out of existence when it falls down this shaft. Unfortunately there is a lot of garbage (read: body parts) laying around and construction of the tower takes priority over cleaning up.

It also serves as execution shaft for caged prisoners. - Jojo
Δ 78. Levers
These color-coded levers control the obsidian farm machinery. Blue for water, red for magma, black for obsidian. The white one is currently unused. - Jojo
Δ 78. Marksdwarf training / guard post
My 20 marksdwarves train in this 1x1 tile while guarding the fortress entrance at the same time. - Jojo
Δ 77. Barracks
Three skilled fighters and teachers train the soldiers of the fort. There are several legendary fighters by now. - Jojo
Δ 77. Dining room
Although you can't see it, the royal dining room contains a caged Hydra and a caged Beak Wolf general. - Jojo
Δ 77. Entrance
Full of cage traps. - Jojo
Δ 77. Guard grizzly
Its purpose is not so much standing guard but distracting enemies that breach the defenses and try to get past the barracks to reach the civilian area. - Jojo

Δ 76. Water / magma pump stacks
Under construction. The channel designations tell me from which side the pumps will be drawing. - Jojo
Δ 35. Breaking the sealed caverns
In order to build the water / magma pump stacks, the previously sealed off cavern had to be breached and three forgotten beasts be killed. A fourth one with deadly poison is lurking somewhere. - Jojo
Δ 18. Obsidian farm
This room is flooded with magma on which water is dropped from the reservoir two z-levels above. The walls are constructed rather than smoothed to prevent accidental digging on non-obsidian stone. - Jojo
