Galleygolds - 252 Early Spring by Itnetlolor

Map Description:

(Not playing Wastelands Mod, but still playing in a similar style.)

Welcome to Vault-221, Codenamed: "Galley Golds", located within a temperate region (let's say something equivalent to Atlanta, GA).

The project goal of this Vault is to see if it is indeed possible for an entire society to develop, and expand beyond the initial vault provided to our residents. A core team with an assigned overseer have been assigned to setup the vault, and a seasonal inflow of volunteers will come in from time to time. Inevitably, the vault will reach it's capacity, and there will be discussion as to what to do with those who draw the short straw.

This is the summary we have managed to receive from the Overseer, details are in the rest of the holotapes, according to region/quarters:

1 year has passed since we have moved into this hole in the hill we call a Vault. The accommodations were okay, given the short notice of the project. We didn't expect our quarters to be so cramped, but we have managed to get by with what we have. I am uncertain of what we might be put through, seeing as I have gotten a true briefing of our goal. "Live here. This will be your new home, Vault-221." is all I was really instructed.

First order of business was to get ourselves setup to be self-sufficient enough to "Live", and optimize the initially crappy architecture to something safer and better. I dunno about anyone else, but how they said to "Live here" got me worried. I am prepared for anything.

Welcome to Vault-221. When we got here, an agent was waiting for us to arrive and handed us blank envelopes filled with info and tasks for us to do during our stay for the first year. The tasks listed seemed rather basic. - Itnetlolor

Δ 165. 6- Conclusion
What did I sign up for?

Day 365- 1 year after arrival, and they expect me to send reports in about our development. What development? A year passed, and we finally got this rust bucket up and running. Thanks to the mushroom vodka, we managed to refine it to the point that our generators can process it as a power source.

Of course, with that proof of alcohol, it can turn a normal person into Cousin Itt from the Addams Family; hair and voice.

Anyway, I need a report on exactly what you brainiacs at Vault-Tec really want from us, because we can just up and abandon this place right here and right now; if only the paycheck wasn't so damn lucrative. - Itnetlolor
Δ 164. 3- Welcome to my office
Seeing as I am the Overseer of this place, I need the finest of equipment to monitor everything, and relay communications where I see fit.

It is a nice place to work, but it seems that when we got here, no doors have been installed. But since we lack proper ventilation or air conditioning, I don't mind it right now, but it does bother me just how unfinished this place really is. It is especially relevant based on the hard drive data I looked through.

All we have on this floor are my operations center, and my personal quarters up above, and what you can find down below. And what you think is a way deeper into the vault, well *hah* that leads nowhere.

Although it was against Vault-Tec policy to look at each others' notes, we gathered them together, and I could swear, there was a hidden message according to how the briefings were setup. What was the message? "SUCKER!!"

At least I have a nice setup, but my room (much like the rest of this vault) lacks proper paneling. Fortunately, we found a good supply of spare panels lying abound, and a series of shops made for producing more. With a bit of tinkering, our paneling expert even said that they can make them look really nice for us. But that can wait. A great example of what they could do, you can see for yourself in the trade station. She can replicate something like that. - Itnetlolor
Δ 163. 0- Air Drop Site
PROLOGUE:

Here is where my core team and I were hot-dropped to get things settled. It was terrible, our equipment got soaked, and we had little time to get to our lodgings. There are wild animals everywhere.

Just as well, much of our MRE pouches breached into the brook, and fed the fish. We at least know what we're having for dinner. - Itnetlolor

Δ 163. 2- Front Door
We initially thought that panel was the front door. Instead, it was just a bulkhead/blast door. Much like what you'd find when preparing for nuclear war.

This is the real front door, a retractable bridge with a sliding bulkhead that fastens and ensures a total lockout from the exterior world. As one would put it, a last line of defense in case mutants would come along to rattle our cage.

Once in awhile, we'll be getting supply drops from the higher-ups, and we have a trading station propped up between the doorways. Provided our production is streamline, we shouldn't have much trouble getting our supplies in exchange for what notes and products come from this project. - Itnetlolor
Δ 163. 4- It seems like they didn't even prepare for our arrival
What a hole. This place seems unfinished, under-furnished, and covered in dirt. This place was a ruin when we got here. In our first year, we got it cleaned up. In the next year, it'll be even cleaner.

Anyhow, here's our housing. we got 2 shipments of volunteers brought among us, and some children came with some of them too. I take it this is to gather notes on how societies with families intertwined can function as a unit. But I wonder, why did they have to send families so soon? - Itnetlolor
Δ 163. 5- Apparently, they expected us to live off MREs for a year.
All we had on us were a few crates of MREs, some supply boxes (wires, copper tubing, etc.) and a good amount of power tools.

Seeing as we could suffer cabin fever in short time, one of our resident geniuses took some of the copper tubing, parts of some crates, a spare water cooler jug (after we drank it all in the first month), and rigged us both a food processor and a still. We currently set them up in this portion of the vault, since it was most readily accessible to the food and any brewables.

The humidity and heat of this place (we need to work on an air conditioning system next) seems rather apt for growing fungii, and apparently, said resident genius also knows a thing or 2 about making mushroom vodka. I was a bit hesitant at first, but it has a rather plump flavor and bite to it. This stuff will make your hair grow out. A cure to baldness. - Itnetlolor
