Fortress: Matchedlanced Mcshay

Abandoned Staging Area

My dwarves lived here until the tower was habitable.

The Quarry

The best source of obsidian I have for now.

Floor 3: Dining and Housing

I've decided to go with many small open dining halls instead of a more traditional massive dining hall.

Floor 1: Storage and Workshops

In the future I intend to move some of the stockpiles and workshops to other floors. This floor will eventually contain part of my barracks.

Fortress: Orbsphrase-OceanTower Mcshay

The construction site

This should give you a good idea of how large my fortress is going to be.

Magma Scaffold

This physics defying iron and stone construction will position magma directly over the outline of the obsidian skirt. It will take a while to complete...

The Mines

The floors above and below this POI are the source of my ores, gems, and rocks. I needed a lot of iron and stone before I can even begin to build the actual fortress.

TempFort: Floor 2

Floor 2 holds all of my workshops, farms and a large storage expansion. The iron and glass workshops are to the north next to my sand pit.

TempFort: Floor 1

This floor holds the communal living space and general storage. No comfort provided, the dwarves must work for it! (by building my fortress)

Fortress: Somberrag Mcshay

Tower: Level B1

This floor was the first one created (during the second winter). It will house all industry and most stockpiles.

Urist McDwarf cancels haul bones: AHHH WATER!

The three bodies on this level and the one on the aquifer guard above were the four who drowned while waiting for the wall segment to be removed. The noble to the top left is the book keeper who held his breath long enough to get out alive.

Incidentally, one of the bodies is of our only jeweler, who came in the first immigration wave. The book keeper was one of the origional seven (and the first mayor).

Hatch Failure

It turns out that freezing and thawing tends to destroy ceiling hatches, as seen here and in the above level. I'll have to drain this out and devise a new water intake that doesn't rely on a hatch.

Tower: Level 3

The plans for this floor are vague, but it will probably house more nobles and the final floor of the dining room.

Fortress: Somberrag Mcshay

Indoor Waterfall Access

This raised tunnel will eventually be submerged once flooding is complete. It's outfitted with two floodgates (raised) and a ceiling hatch that will be used to control the intake and removal of water from the indoor waterfall system. There will be no direct way to enter the fortress through here unless the invader can either destroy walls, or flow through pumps and iron bars (up the waterfall).

Glitched Ice

I'm not sure why, but I get this kind of thing a lot when constructions and digging meet ice. Only the floor potion of that tile is left. I usually fix it by digging the tile out next winter.
