Fortress: Chamberwines | apparentbliss
Nothing like free glass ... though I did accidentally turn all my leather into bags at one point, and almost lost a strange mood to a lack of stacked leather. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-24 |

One thing that I'll probably tweak next time around is the "grand entryway," with a drawbridge and a long-way-around that can involve some ballistas. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-24 |

For some reason, all the fortress critters seem to love the zoo more than the resident dwarves. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-24 |

Finding myself short of barrels and storage space up in the soil layer, I carved out space near the central stairway in one of my exploratory mining layers for a sort of "root cellar" style larder. Seeing how as all the barrels I had tied up in Prepared-Food-Storage were only holding one stack of food each, I made sure the fancy meals were left to sit on the ground. This is kind of cheesy, but I had never done an all-in-one bedroom before, and wanted to play around with it. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-24 |

Fortress: Moistnesscloistered | apparentbliss
When the goblins come, the bridge goes up, and they have to wind their way around my firing squad. The shooting gallery section is lined with channels so as to avoid having to put everything on a second z-level. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

Plant/food production and processing occurs up here on the "top" interior layer. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

Hopefully a temporarily location, assuming I don't stay lazy. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

The Once and Future Dining Room Still in its infancy. The long term plan is to carve out the layer below this and do a "set of islands" connected by bridges for this layer. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

In hindsight, I should have put the bone/shell/skull stockpiles and and associated craftsdwarf shop on the north side by the butcher/refuse pile, and the carpenter shop on the south side. Oops. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

... because I'm tired of my military giving each other spinal injuries while sparring. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

This layout is my new favorite. Compact, but readily expandable. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

Having to get underground quickly to hide from roaming badguys out of the chasm, my first several seasons were spent almost immediately underneath my starting location. Once I had dug out some space in the marble, I moved everything over. I still haven't decided what to do with this space. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

Once my fort was successfully underway, I sent my huntsman in to break up the remaining several batmen hanging around this exposed breach into the chasm, then quickly sealed it off. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |

Semi-Cheesy Magma Source Fortification I always carve a fortification right near the magma source when I carve a magma supply. I'm not sure if this is considered cheesy, or simply good sense. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-26 |
