Despite the presence of the aquifer, or even the nearly-trivial action of digging an access tunnel over to it, my dwarves all trek overland to the embarkment cistern whenever they have a hankering for turtles, or need to fetch water for the sick. With the large surge in population afforded by the second wave of immigration, the textile industry was enabled to kick into full gear. Both of my first two strange (well, strange and fey) moods belonged to this group; the first, the weaver, did not receive legendary status, but the second, the clothier, did. With my first wave of immigrants, the population increase from 7 to 13 was easy to handle, and a smooth transition. The second wave, however, spiking the population all the way up to 39, has yet to be effectively merged in. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2010-03-18 |

On most of my fortresses, I am practically swimming in barrels and bins. Though the saguaros do provide some lumber, it is not enough to support my usual container habits, and I have been trying to separate out stockpiles that can be set to zero barrels, where appropriate. Every time I get the message that booze production is being held up due to a lack of barrels, it brings a tear to my eye ... and it worries me. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2010-03-18 |

Though I am not sure if it is a good idea to open the Statue Garden to the public before anything resembling safety measures have been installed, it has been the most popular place in the fortress since the (admittedly poor quality placeholder) statue was installed. The Visitors Parlor / Defenses Though the glass tower is but a mere skeleton of what it eventually will be, it already houses the trade depot, and creates a reasonable chokepoint for the entrance to the fortress. A (currently dry) moat has been dug, and the single entry point will be sufficient defense for a year or two still. Long term plans include setting up some sort of entry-warrens situated above the aquifer to funnel siegers through -- perhaps even with some sort of drowning chamber.
