10 Sodel Staffjudged

Poor thing. She keeps tilling ground that used to be productive while she was alive. Nobody here knows who she was, or is.

9 Gems and Mechanisms

Haven't been here in a while. We still have a pretty big stock of gems to show the traders when they come. Speaking of which, there's an elven one on its way. Maybe this one will have better luck than the last...*flicks tongue*

8 Workshops and Extra Dining

With all the new dwarves, it was decided there was demand for more space to eat. Nobody could agree on what to do with the new dining hall, so we tossed some chairs and tables together over there as a temporary fix, put a big quarry to use, take advantage of the organic design.

It could use some more work.

We've had some issues with stone lately, seems the furniture building exhausted a lot of supplies. It's a shame, we still have quite a few coffins to put together.

7 Bedrooms

And the bedrooms. Around the time the hall was being dug out, we got a big wave of migrants, put us around 40 strong, even after the rampaging were-elk. And the little dorm was getting crowded, so the next priority was to make a proper bedroom for every dwarf. Ambitious, but it got pretty close to finished.

Vucar decided her room was going to get smoothed out first. We're not sure exactly what happened to her.

6 Hospital and Crypt

We actually had to build the crypt first. See, a were-elf showed up. The militia was called in, the fort came together and slew the foul beast, conveniently after it'd taken out an elf who left a bunch of tradeable goods on our doorstep. *flicks tongue* Sadly, we lost about seven members in that fight. of course, they had to be buried, in proper fashion, with memorial markers. The fancy one is for a soldier.

Not long after that we realized we'd need a hospital, which was sensibly placed across the hall from the crypt. As you can see, it has seen considerable use. That's Udil Dimplemine, our broker. He's not used to mining this much, but he's coming along.

5 New Hall

Vucar didn't want to have to settle in dirt, thought it was offensive, so she insisted on digging down to solid rock. We finally hit it here, consistently, so she dug out a modest hall with pillars.

Don't mind the clutter. *flicks tongue* We'll sort it out, eventually.

4 Surface outpost

So, this was the main fort, I mean it still is. After we sealed off the manager's home, we dug otu a new tunnel connecting this to the new wing, you can see it bending down to the west there.

What's that smell? *flicks tongue* Oh, nothing...

3 Thob's tomb

Thob was the first casualty here. We hadn't prepared a proper crypt, but Vucar decided one had to be made pronto, thoguht it was shameful to leave a body out so long. *dry chuckle* So we dug this one out of the stone even before the bedrooms were started, smoothed and engraved. Nicest room in the fort at the moment.

They even engraved a nice picture of him being eaten by a monitor lizard. You have to appreciate that kind of attention to detail.

2 Entrance

Here it is. Plan is to get a drawbridge installed, but we haven't dug out the moat yet. Been too busy.

I remember that wolf fondly... *flicks tongue*

1 Manager's Office

Nice view, huh? The gem window really adds to the room. Speaking of which, who owns this place now? Let me think...*flicks tongue*

Oh yeah, Logem. Came here a bit more recently. Downstairs from here is what used to be the fort entrance, but Zucar, I think it was, the rookie in the militia. She took it on herself to decide that it wasn't dwarfy enough? So she dug out a new tunnel and made a larger entrance, which is now the main one.

She probably should've walled off the old entrance sooner, but we took care of that, eventually. Just need to get the old door put away.

Rakust Notchrock, the Awe-Inspiring Nadir

What? Who are you? What brings you here? *flicks tongue* You're visiting? Well, ok. Let me show you around. *flicks tongue*

Fortress: Orchrerises the Elevation of Iron Quinq

The Statue of Triumph

A golden statue of a dwarf used to signify the triumph of the dwarves over HFS. This area used to be a magma forge area used to craft adamantine stuff... until HFS decided to pay the fortress a visit. They initially managed to break loose in the area, but thanks to the Ath and Ogno, they are trapped above the Up/Down staircases behind the slab in and the pillar on the right. The slab memorializes a forgotten beast which was also slain by one of the HFS fellas.

The miners managed to dig another path to the forge, but no one has the mood to craft adamantine anymore...

Ath's body

Ath died here. Killed by one of the HFS pals. Not sure why the local image didn't export his corpse too though.

The Heroes' Graves

The memorial slabs of Ath (top) and Ogno (bottom). I think Ogno's body was recovered somehow, but Ath's body still remains in the Up/Down staircase where the HFS pals lurk about listlessly - unable to escape to the surface.

The bridge's bottom

The cramped dungeon where all the wondrous loot and baddies all drop in. There used to be a minotaur in here which would beat all the new guys to pulp, until the new goblin prisoners from the recent siege managed to whack it to death. You can also see some of the unfortunate collateral damage done to the populous as a result of the bridge's function.
