Dining Hall

Two artifacts keep people happy, despite the absolute squalor of having 60 dwarves eating, sleeping and carousing in this tiny hall.

Magmaworks

The magma-channel has been grated to prevent Magma Crab attacks (though they like to undulate in strange, circular patterns just outside the gabbro walls).

Levers and Chickens

One of the most multipurpose rooms in the whole fort!

Entrance

Fortified with alunite and iron gates.

Where He Became a Legend

This was where my starting-seven Siege Engineer completed his training, having created over 300 ballistae parts as practice. The finest machines would have be under my control, and the trade possibilities were enticing as well.

He promptly fell into my cistern, broke his legs, and drowned.

The Well

The sometimes used cobaltite-block well, that reaches down 20 z-levels into a man made cistern, which is in turn connected to a distant brook via a snaking sewer.

Food Storage

Three z-levels make up a set of food storage rooms. The refuse pile, behind double-doors, is to the left.

Also serves as a temporary barracks and workshop space.

There's a baby on the barracks

That green X is the nauseated Mosus Earthmountains. His mother is a Asen Paintrespect, Fishery Worker, who is looking for him. She's a ways to the south.

No idea how this happened.

RIP Avuz Sholidtun

Sadly, I can't find anyone who knew him well enough to translate his last name. Slain by a giant chipmunk, which was later dispatched by the militia.

His slab is one of the ones being hauled through the stoneworks, to be engraved.

RIP Kol Roughrawness

Our expedition leader died in a cave-in moments after the mayor was elected.

Some suspect suicide.

He liked iron, so he got an iron sarcophagus, on the edge of a magnetite cluster.

Living, Dining, Dying

I'm still keeping up the custom bedroom design, though it's getting somewhat standardized. 3x3 bedroom for singles, 2x3 bed with 3x3 dine for couples sans kids, and and suites for families with 2x3 for adults and 2x2 for kids' rooms.

One of the migrants has a baby, so in preparation I've given her a suite.

Also, note the mayoral quarters on the upper left. They're not quite up to snuff yet, but the basics are established.

Pardon the lack of color, but it seems that what's been dug so far has been chert with occasional slate and granite.

Also set up a mug stockpile in the dining room. Dwarves like mugs now.

Farms, Lumber, Poultry

I just now noticed a hole where a farm plot should be. That explains what happened to the ramp...

Cloth and Leather

Conveniently near the farmshops and the farms.

Workshops

Those slabs are being hauled, actually. You just can't see the dwarves underneath them.

I found that it's good to have surplus furniture.
