Fortress: Project Superbowl Shurikane

Project Hostage

In preparation for the megabeast not-so-much-of-an-onslaught, we took our precautions.

First, after a meeting, we elected to move the new trade depot inside, and build it out of bauxite out of knowledge of the magma wyrm's rather boiling breath and cause of the last trade depot's demise. We have also chosen to make minor updates to our cage and weapon alley.

But, the meat comes in the form of Project Hostage, a field of iron and steel spikes that is to surround the trade depot all the way to the trap alleys, lever-activated for maximum effect. To supplement, several fortifications for archers, pit failsafes, and lockdown mechanisms to protect the community and let the traders deal with the mess.

The corridor will be sealed as soon as the preparations are complete...

We have also finally decided that letting carcasses rot outside was too much of a danger; thus, we carved a series of fermentation chambers for the chunks and undesirable parts to rot away without releasing toxic miasma into the meeting halls.

'STONEWALL JACKSON' THE ROADS OF BLOCKING - Sniper

After a second frost dragon attack that took out a human caravan and an entire migrant wave, Stonewall Jackson quickly rushed to pick up his ammo while the fort prepared extra fortifications and eventually trapped the beast within the maze of traps leading into the fort. With the dragon able to avoid the pressure plates, the maze became an improvised shooting gallery, to which BOOM HEADSHOT! eagerly participated. The last blow went to Stonewall Jackson, a seasoned veteran of battle, well able to unleash several bolts per second against his foes. He now resides within the second room of Project Superbowl and holds the fort as legendary sniper with his partner Vengeance.

'VENGEANCE' CILOBASTIS THE BELL OF SHELLS - Sniper

In the siege of the titan, Vengeance gladly took it upon herself to challenge the beast, mano a mano, after growing impatient with the creature's endless lingering outside the fortress and fresh from having lost a teammate of hers not too long ago - a sadly nameless recruit. She currently resides within the first room of Project Superbowl and holds the fort as legendary sniper with her partner Stonewall Jackson.

Fortifications? In MY dining room?!

A megabeast scramble found us losing half our force within minutes, but by an incredible streak of luck, we managed to lock away the foul monster in the dungeon master's dining room!. A few fortifications later and the room became a live-fire shooting gallery for the half-dozen newly drafted crossbowdwarves. As he was to be aptly named in the aftermath, the brave mason BOOM HEADSHOT! eventually landed the last blow on the beast. At his request, he has been undrafted and has humbly returned to his mason duties.

The Beginnings of Project Superbowl

Slowly, steadily, we cover the outside in glass, in preparation for the luxury we shall live in soon.

We heard noises of cave crocodiles coming from the depths below.

~Whippit~

An unexpected pride and joy of the community, Whippit is a death chamber wherein each weapon trap contains one, and only one whip. It was used against a human siege with... arousing results. The torture was so excruciating for the prisoners that it went on for one season and they actually leveled up!

The blueprints have been forwarded to the mountainhome and we highly suggest this sinister execution chamber be implemented in all outposts.

Trap Alley & Meeting Hall

The trap alley has, sadly, been completely ineffective against whichever forces were strong enough to make it past the caravans. Only once have the cage traps been used, and the growing line of whip traps is soon becoming more decoration than actual threat. Still, we feel the need to complete it, if only to find beauty in the arrangement.

Into The Flames

The trade depot provides meatshielding to passing dwarves, allowing foreign warriors to take in most of the incoming onslaughts - and Armok knows we need all the help we can get. In the event of a catastrophe, drawbridges retract and the community plans its next - and often inevitable - move.

Fortress: Liontower Shurikane

The Courtyard

Dastot Lisatzon writes in his journal:

"We decorated the outside a little to get a change from all the trees and to make the outside a little more pleasant for us. Of course, we had our beloved Liontower, Cage Alley, Rewotnoil, The Ball, "Lion" Tower, and the Slanted Lionface, but we wanted something a little closer to home.

Perhaps I was insane in doing something as normal as this. But... doesn't it just look beautiful and inspiring?"
