Fortress: Irondrinkers Tharis

High mountains

I have a thing for embarks with absurdly high mountains, then I never seem to be sure what to do with them.

Where the garbage ultimately lands.

Also, adamantine.

Omsos the Wisp of Seduction

An enormous humanoid anteater made of mud, undulating rhythmically, spraying webs into the water, and full of holes from crossbows.

If I do one more thing with this fort, it is going to become a tourist attraction. It hasn't left this spot since it arrived, and then only because it dodged off of its mushroom to evade a crossbow bolt. Having evaded, it promptly climbed back up again.

Pump Power Station

Using drainage from the underground lake to pump water out of the same. It worked pretty well.

Cavern 1

I think that's some infectious gook because all of my dogs are having their poor paws rotting off.

Cistern

Captain's Quarters and Jail

I don't think anyone has been incarcerated, but each cell has its own well. To the right is the top of the pump stack that feeds the cistern, which was a bit of work to design but well worth it.

Pun intended.

Marble Quarry and Cavern Entrance

Had a few nasty forgotten beast battles there. They never really cleaned up after the last one.

Temples

One for each of the major gods, out of a material that seemed fitting. Still trying to think of a more interesting way to design these.

Generic bedrooms, furniture storage, and crypt

The dead are beginning to outnumber the living.

Yes, I engraved a slab for Every Single Dead Dwarf. It was tedious, but it felt strangely satisfying to have the task finished. And I'm still not sure what started the whole disaster in the first place.

Miners' quarters

Very important dwarves, all since deceased.

Cloth and Leather

Dwarves gotta have clothes, ya know?

Forges and Furnaces

Kind of speaks for itself. We've made a lot of steel armor here.

Smelters

I like how I managed to make different stockpiles for different ores, and even flux stone. The central stair goes down to the smithies, with coke on the landing. I had left a vacant space under both the smelters and the smithies in case I decided to pump magma. It never seemed worth it.
