Stonecrafter Duzlokum, Last to Fall

Since there was only one full set of iron armor and weaponry at the time of the attack, the battle against the gargoyles devolved into assigning dwarves one at a time to take up arms in the valiant struggle. This dwarf died before he could see his foe succumb to death, but not before slicing and scattering wings, feet, and thighs in all directions. By the time Clerk Ermiszaneg arrived to pick up the iron and continue the fight, the gargoyle was gone.

Still-Boring Dining Hall

It makes the dwarves happy with its legendariness, but the Hall of Food Consumption and General Time Wasting still lacks a certain panache. Maybe when I discover the underground river I'll feel more motivated to set up my little "islands" scheme.

Stepped Magma Tunnel

I tried to put in some vertical drop over the run of my magma tunnel this time, because I was tired of the tunnels taking forever to fill. It seemed to work reasonably well -- not as well as a couple magma-safe screw pumps, but this is a lot easier to construct.

Somnatorium (Communal Bedroom)

A single room, but with each bed assigned individually. This is a bit cheaty, though I suppose you can look at it as a socialist / commune thing if you want to try and roleplay-justify it.

Separate noble rooms will eventually be carved out of the eastern outer wing.

Slow Farms

Farming is pretty neutered in Masterwork, so it may not be worth it to cart along a proficient cook in the starting seven; that being said, it's nice to have the variety of crops around for the variety of new/extra uses (making oil, or hay, or what have you).

Single Z-Level

Except for the farms, everything relevant is on a single z-level.

Silk Farming

Clearing all the boulders out of this area is a colossal pain, because workers trek out, move a boulder or two, then trek back. Once it's clear, silk will be available, though I doubt it will manage to be as productive or hassle-free as pigtail is.

Siege Training

Small, self-contained siege operation training units. Channels make ammo recycling easy.

Siege Engine Expansion

I'm going to add a set of catapults to the ballistas guarding the entrance. Not sure if they will actually be useful, but hey, why the hell not.

On a side note: training up siege engineering SUCKS.

Semi-Cheesy Magma Source Fortification

I always carve a fortification right near the magma source when I carve a magma supply. I'm not sure if this is considered cheesy, or simply good sense.

Rockforge Not So Useful?

The two soldiers that were sparring outside when the gargoyles showed up were outfitted in armor and warhammers made at the Rockforge. They fell quickly.

Revised Deathtrap

This long stretch is bookended with bridges to be retracted once the goblins are inside the area, at which point they can be fired upon by the ballistas, and the barracks, if they are still close enough. I may beef up this entryway by putting up a walkway and fortifications along the walls of the long stretch, allowing marksdwarves to follow and harass them at any and all points.

The important thing, though, is that it's 100% outside. Maybe I won't get idiot civilians running out it during sieges.

Replacement Well & Fishing

After the first well location turned up dry, I started in on this one. The "safe" pump setup seems to have worked, at least this time. Pump is manually powered to reduce flood risk.

Repeater

SL/Logic Gate Single Repeater (a la http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/User:SL/Logic_Gates#Repeater )

Hooked up to my Danger Room. I was worried about the pump misting the murky pool into non-existence, but so far that hasn't happened. Currently turned off.

Refuse / Garbage

Refuse stockpiles and a garbage dump zone feed into the central pit here, which can then be atom-smashed as desired.

The pit is only one z-level deep, which means that I occasionally get miasma flooding and also have had junk spray back up into this room when the atomsmasher bridge is in the wrong state. On the whole, neither of these is particularly annoying, but it is definitely worth digging a deeper garbage shoot.
