Kivish Merchantrinsed
13 years old, one of the children of the fort who has recently attained adulthood.
After the last siege we suddenly had a bumper crop of peasants.

Erith Meetlenses
He's enraptured in prayer to Ustuth, Deity of Fortresses
He's also worked his way up to legendary in masonry with no strange moods to facilitate the process. A very useful dwarf.

Da Crypt
It keeps expanding! The latest addition is on the top-right, five tombs to those who died in the last goblin siege.
Considering precedent, that's pretty good. We left the gates open until the first half dozen or so got in (after slaughtering our bears) and slammed it shut. An elite marksdwarf got caught in the ensuing melee, but otherwise the goblins were dispatched.
Then we waited, and decided to open the bridge again to see how they came. The first wave came in from the north, and was taken down with a few causalities, then another wave came from the south, with a few stragglers. After this, they fled, though the troops caught a few more at the east end of the map. It was all very heroic, and included the fateful death of our first decorated dwarf, Atir Savotdodok Dibeshguz Kubuk.
As it currently stands, the entire shape makes me think of a camel for some reason.

Mistem Grovesabre
So, if you were watching before, you might have wondered about this guy.
So, some years ago, there was a werebison attack. The beast bit one soldier (and murdered a couple more) before being dispatched.
I failed to quarantine that soldier effectively, so I surrounded him with soldiers (he was a member of a squad) to be safe.
He turned, murdered what was then the fort's only gem cutter (and another civilian) in addition to infecting poor Mistem here.
This one got quarantined. Then she got a strange mood with such force that everything else was burdened with his suffering (FPS 7 for the duration) before snapping.
I think I'll just leave her here until I run out of more interesting projects.

Da Levers
I've got a functioning drawbridge at each cavern entrance, and a lever attached.
Color coded, of course.

Da Bears
I picked up some black bears from the elves, and have been breeding them. I've lost many (as you can see at the corpse pile) due to using them as bait animals, but they're still breeding. This one is our tripwire.
(yes, I live in Chicago)

New Barracks
It's designed to cure them of cave adaptation. Since things are quiet, I've got the whole army training so they'll be ready for the next invasion.

Main Gate and Courtyard
You can see buckets of blended bodily fluids in the corridor between the tavern and the wall, and the field is pockmarked with broken bolts.
The pond had to be drained to access some stuff, including a corpse. I may refill it at some point, the mudhole is displeasing.
Also, I wanted to upload this image before the tavern was permanetly dyed green. It happened that I had eight sets of tables, and eight different colors of mushroom timber, so I went with it. Bedrooms are furnished upstairs. I might set some tables on the balcony, but I'm not committed to that yet. We'll see what they christen it when I finally designate the thing.

Two-Humped Camels
I brought like 6 of these bad boys at embark, using up all my points (I usually only bring 7 unskilled peasants, a pick, and an axe) but I think the sole male is asexual. I want me some baby camels ;_;

Catacombs
The only death so far has been a mason, who was surprised by a giant bat while attempting to bridge the cavern (see the other PoI) and fell 12 z-levels to his death. The bat just kinda flew off, I don't even think it was hostile. . .
*sigh*

Depot
Eventually the bridge will become the only point of access to the fortress. For now, I've added a little doorway on the right so I can bring in wood and whatnot.
