Noble Quarters.

The quarters for our Baron, with an area marked out for the queens throne room. The Barons bedroom is above her dining room.

We're slowly removing the piles of stone everywhere.

Museum and archive.

The museum houses the 7 artifacts we've produced. Through the drawbridge to the North, the vault holds VaultSpin, our first artifact, a wooden animal trap. It's already been stolen once, then recovered. It seems ~60% of our visitors are seeking it's location.

"Temporary" entrance

In spite of being temporary, I keep adding to the entrance area.

Currently it houses our barracks, various trap groups and the remains of last springs siege of 120 goblins.

The aim in the next 2 years is to add a new, more secure entrance with the depot in front of the tavern in the first cavern.

Tavern.

The tavern, now entertaining large numbers of human bards, along with many adventurers seeking vaultspin, our first artifact.

Farmers guildhall.

Now the home of fortress food/booze production (at least until I get a request for a brewers/cooks guild). The floor below houses most of the working spaces/stockpiles.

Library - Main floor

The Main floor of the library is finally ready. We transferred the books from the old temporary library and it is now in use.

Top of the library dome

Would have a nice view, if the buzzards would just stop bothering us.

Tavern work site.

Just need to dig this out, then I can drop this into the cavern to be carved into our tavern.

Library - Writing room.

Now ready, just need to finish the glass dome (only ~400 clear class blocks to go). This will be the top floor of the library tower.

Improved defenses

I've added some additional walls and improved the marksdwarves fortifications. We survived the first siege, but it revealed some serious flaws in our defenses.

glass works/kilns

Our Magma glass works/kiln. Magma level below the kilns is not quite high enough. Another month or 2.

It's a fair distance from the rest of the fort. The Northernmost sand deposit is ~20 levels up from here. After a quick lever pull it should be in the room to the south of the forges instead.

We'll need ~800 glass blocks for the library dome. I was planning on clear glass, We're going to need a bigger perlash stockpile. And a second kiln. And a lot more trees. 8 batches of 100 should do it though. It may help that all 3 of my designated class smiths like clear glass.

Magma forges

A big improvement on our old charcoal fed forges. Temporary magma forge area. Work on full masterwork iron armor for our military is in progress. Stockpiles/reject pile for melting reforging are on the levels above.

Garbage disposal

Turns out dwarfs get horrified by using a corpse/refuse stockpile with dead, rotting sentients in it.

My solution - garbage disposal. Garbage is dumped in the refuse stock pile, transferred to the mine cart and then dumped down the chute into the magma ducts for our forges. Problem solved.

Were-Mayors quarters

This section of the cavern is now secure. The lake is slowly draining (It's in the way of the tower construction).

North is the were-mayors quarters. Of course we would get an highly skilled socialiser, manager, organiser and broker in the first large migrant wave who would get mauled by a were-tapir before he could even get to the fortress and would then be promptly elected mayor.

He's now got "secure" quarters in this cavern. Where he can focus on keeping our stock lists up to date and doing some engraving of his room for occupational therapy.

It's working out quite well. The only problem is timing the visits of representatives to avoid any... unpleasant incidents.
