The main benefit of this is giving the dwarves a way back into the base that doesn't run them through a giant chunk of goblins near the wide entrancel Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

I thought I was quite clever for saving barrels by designating this prepared food stockpile to be without them. I'm not 100% sure now, though, since there are so many flies hovering around them all the time. Even if the flies aren't causing wear, they are causing unhappy thoughts. I have over 9000 prepared meals now, most of them roasts. I probably could/should lay off on food prep. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

Upon reaching the rank of champion, each soldier is assigned a tomb in this august space. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

Despite telling all my dwarves to stay indoors, a bunch of civilians ran outside during the last siege, past my ranks of soldiers waiting on the *safe* side of the traps, and got themselves killed. In future forts, I think I will try to put more of the approach to the base outdoors, so that the margin for civilian AI error is greater. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

The room is filled with spike traps. I haven't tested it out yet. Pets can be "inserted" into the room either via cage or pit (see z-layer above). Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

I have yet to flood the layer below. Also, I am having a slight livestock problem. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

Carrying a goblin to the pit dump point is no easy task (see Live Target Practice POI). The damn civilians seems entirely incapable of doing it. The goblin runs up the stairs, my soldiers slaughter it, and my beautiful marble is covered with blood. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

I'm not sure if it was my goblin slaughtering or what, but I had a refuse-explosion, leaving my designated areas full and useless. Miasma ensued. I'm digging out this area for the safe-and-useful refuse-bits, aka bones, skulls, and shells. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

I'm not sure if I've edged the Group Noble Housing up to Royal status yet, but it's close. Next step is to build in little alcoves for the beds, which I can close off with floodgates or internal-marked doors, and turn into mini murder chambers in case of unreasonable mandate. It makes the dwarves happy with its legendariness, but the Hall of Food Consumption and General Time Wasting still lacks a certain panache. Maybe when I discover the underground river I'll feel more motivated to set up my little "islands" scheme. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

I started carving out my favorite fractal bedroom pattern, thinking I'd put in beds down here for the new arrivals. Blech. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

Small, self-contained siege operation training units. Channels make ammo recycling easy. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

I got a purring maggot! I was very excited. I put it in its own cage so it wouldn't be near the central production area, disgusting every dwarf that walked by, and I went out to milk it. One milk. I made cheese from that milk. One cheese. Each maggot can be milked once per season. I guess the cheese is worth 100 dwarfbucks, but damn, that was a waste of time. This is of course not surprising to anybody. That being said, maybe I'll keep trying to catch purring maggots for roleplaying purposes. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |

I still haven't got any sun berries to plant. Granted, I stopped running out my herbalist during non-spring months a while ago, but you would think the hippies would bring some seeds. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-27 |
