Fortress: Syrupdeaths | apparentbliss
Underground river located and tapped; well made. Cave spiders given a little bit of room to spread out. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-08-01 |

What the hell do you do with a masterwork grate? Install it next to your main staircase, of course. It is completely superfluous, but that didn't stop me. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-08-01 |

Ballistas set up and loaded; more paved roads installed to prevent obnoxious tree growth; "shortcut" peacetime bridge somewhat fortfied with traps. Fortications and walkable perimeter added to the length of the "gauntlet." Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-08-01 |

Fortress: Syrupdeaths | apparentbliss
Traversing the long and winding pathway out of the fortress every time you need to get some wood just seems so unnecessary. Two problems: I badly need a war dog up here to watch, and during a "fire drill" I conducted nobody pulled the lever ... because it's outside. So, I need to move that inside. I've discovered a fondness for plant processing and milling, something which I usually put off for several years at the beginning of new fortresses. Syrup and flour are good. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-31 |

This long stretch is bookended with bridges to be retracted once the goblins are inside the area, at which point they can be fired upon by the ballistas, and the barracks, if they are still close enough. I may beef up this entryway by putting up a walkway and fortifications along the walls of the long stretch, allowing marksdwarves to follow and harass them at any and all points. Fishing is of course a grand waste of time, but sometimes I'm too lazy to make sure that all my dwarves are actually being productive. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-31 |

In my very first elven caravan, the hippies brought me two giant eagles. It's better to be lucky than good. Anybody know if they'll actually breed? Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-31 |

My main leader / social skiller got a mood and became a legendary mason. This is of course a good problem to have, but I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to start training up a new broker type, or if I can live with a part time mason. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-31 |

Still no soldiers to give the defenses teeth, but the structure is in place. I may add an extra turn on the south side of the barracks, I may not. The gauntlet is plenty long as it is, I suspect. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-31 |

Some of this stuff (e.g. the dining room) will get reshuffled later, once there are permanent locations. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

This time around, I'm going with fully outdoor defenses. Hopefully this will keep the civilians somewhat more out of the way. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

Fortress: Moistnesscloistered | apparentbliss
I'm trying to get all my various artifacts down into here, so that if some thief somehow manages to sneak inside, none will be available up near the surface. I still haven't gotten the stockpile settings right, though, so lots of artifacts are still laying around the fortress. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |

I was excited when this megabeast spawned, but then it just got trapped in the first cage trap is stumbled over. Oh well ... I think it makes a nice decoration. Submitted by: apparentbliss - 2009-07-30 |
