Pumping magma with wooden pumps doesn't work very well.
Green glass screws and tubes, however, have been shown to work quite nicely, and you appear to have white sand available.

Let me add my little share of praise, as well. As it occurs, I've just started a new fortress and I'll see to adding this, myself. Deephome's dwarves thank you in advance!

I like how in the midst of that, I saw the Captain shatter three skeletal Elks in like... 1 second. Also... BurnedToast trying to conduct a meeting on the sidelines of the battle. xD

Tried this myself. Can confirm that it is indeed bugged.

I'm thinking of testing whether it's the same as salt water, and if the trick of using pumps to desalinate it will work

Aha! I finally get how you did it. The very first tile from the magma is channeled and then a floor is placed over it, preventing it from overflowing. The second tile is a fortification, to prevent the fire imps from wreaking havoc. The third is an stair. The miner can channel out the magma without exposing himself by standing on top of the fortification. Very clever.

I'm going to assume the water flows off the edge of the map or into a chasm, because my player has a broken window size and couldn't stand to see it through to the end.

Water 'teleports' to the orthographic tiles nearest to the farthest connected 7/7 water. You could have 10 or even 100 units of water "flowing" through a channel into a chasm, and the water will never rise from the channels' level because all the water just teleports to the end where the chasm is.

Curse you and your war spiders! /jealousy

I really wish other animals could be trained... I have a ton of wolves caged up I've been wanting to see trained into war wolves, but for now they're just linked up to a pressure plate to be released when an enemy gets too close. :D

Now that you say that, I really, really, really wish I'd have thought to mine out the wall where the hydra was trapped nearby and set it loose on those stupid wagons.

Still debating whether I should post that video... it's pretty boring, very anti-climactic for my first megabeast.

Hydra? What hydra?

Actually, the hydra is trapped nearby in one of the many channels I've dug in front of my fortifications. I have no idea how it got down there (presumably punted by one of my military), but it couldn't get back out or hurt anyone - but it was canceling jobs. I tried to catch it, but I couldn't get my dwarves close enough to set up cage traps around it so I ended up simply killing it. It made some nice masterwork leather armor though!

Please tell me there's a part 3 where the caravan gets ambushed and utterly destroyed.
It'd just be so perfect.
