Thoughts occur:
1. Cave in dust pushes creatures around.
2. Creatures that fall into a chasm are instantly destroyed.
3. Caved-in stone that falls into a chasm is removed from existance.

Thus, if a fairly narrow bridge is built over a chasm tile, and this machine is built on the side of the bridge (so the falling block is clear on all 4 sides) the machine will continually generate dust, and always push off anything that crosses it; even demons, since they are not immune to dust knock-outs. Assuming the bridge was built insanely close to the bottom of the chasm, even demons wouldn't have enough time to snap out of the KO and save their asses by flying.

[edit - and as a note, the obsidian block that was formed in the last frame probably didn't drop because you probably didn't dig out the ceiling; and thus the block attached itself to it]

Any time a liquid is forced to move only diagonally (there is no orthographic movement to the same square) it loses a great deal or all of it's pressure.

1. Draw the design in MS paint
2. Click on flood fill and another color
3. Flood-fill at any point in the design.

If the flood fill fails to color a part of the design, then that part will have no liquid with horizontal pressure in it. (but it will still flood eventually, and vertical pressure may still apply!)

It may be more efficient to flood the area, but damnit we're dwarves. We don't do efficient, in fact, we do the opposite of efficient. The more inefficient and magnificent, the more dwarven that crap is.
Now plate that floor in gold blocks, i want those ogres to run away with gold chunks stuck to the stubs where their feet were.

Looks like the counter-offer code doesn't check for animal part flags when it does it's check.

hilarity ensues.

"Restricted" does not mean "You can not go there!"

What it means is "Fewer dwarves can path through this tile then other traffic designations; but they can still pass through."

OM NOM NOM
The beast pit hungers.

What you really should do is make a similar area underground and just let the creatures feast so that the bones of the dead pile up. Just not awsome if it's a clean stone floor.

Cave-ins causing unconciousness, which causes unconcious creatures to activate traps. May not work with creatures that cannot be knocked unconcious. Requires every object to be made of adamantine in order to survive a spirit of fire (including the support and support mechanism, otherwise one or both will melt)
