They screamed as their flesh melted from their bones, their faces an expression of absolute horror before dissolving into nothingness. Those images will haunt me forever." |

View / ReplySubmitted by: LoSboccacc - 2010-10-12you may also add a fortifications between the floodgates and the chamber itself so that those pesky building destroyers won't spoil your work (yes I say this because it has happened to me, but I was not using a pump to fill, resorting on gravity instead. fun ensued) |

Movie: The ultimate LavaTrap | Icebird |
View / ReplySubmitted by: Quietust - 2010-10-08Unfortunately, this trap is completely worthless in DF2010 because Trolls (and all other creatures with [BUILDINGDESTROYER:2]) will destroy the floor grates and thus block their only path into your fortress. |

Movie: Perpetual Motion on the Cheap | shinziril |
View / ReplySubmitted by: Morgoththegreat - 2010-09-10As far as I know you don't need rivers/brooks, nor does it need to be aboveground, nor does it need to be made out of constructed walls. I've done a similar trick with murky pools on riverless maps in which I've drained the pool into a channel with a waterwheel (with a run-off/evap area for excess), and had it spin the waterwheel just fine. I think it has to do with the water getting locked into its flowing state when it fills an area to equilibrium (no sloshes) in a certain way. |

Movie: HFS fight over the chasm | Mechanoid |
View / ReplySubmitted by: The Brewski - 2010-09-09Just gotta chime in, watching this fight never gets old. This is what Dwarf Fortress really is. Desperate battles for the livelihood of a small piece of land in a god-forsaken hellhole against a fantasy-turned-reality abomination from Japan. |
