Map: Citybite - 377 | Phrog |
View / ReplySubmitted by: Phrog - 2009-02-11I've been deliberating if I want to send in the troops (the Granite Bells again. They have the best equipment, skills, and some thirty kills to their name including one dwarf with twelve) or if I want to flood the entire cave with magma for hilarity's sake. Sending the troops in would be fun, but I'd also have to worry about forbidding everything in there beforehand so civilians don't go running in blindly. Then I'll have to manage a bunch of hauling jobs that the slaughter would invariably create (or, again, I could forbid the hell out of everything). Right now I'm leaning towards nuking the cave from orbit and letting Armok sort them out. Hey, at least the fort will have awesome engravings of everything melting if I do! |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Phrog - 2008-02-07Yeah, I realize this, but I'm actually enjoying making a "gimmick" fort for once seeing how the last fortress I made, Claspedsack, went beautifully but was overwhelmingly vanilla-flavored. I might consider breaching the aquifer later (I'm still learning a bit as I go), but going with the wood thing seems fun, especially with so many trees all over the place. |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Phrog - 2008-02-06The z-levels are not nearly as daunting as I first thought. It was harder making stairs work than navigating around. I knew there was an aquifer going in, but I had no idea that it would be this crazy. There is literally nothing but clay and loam as far as I can tell on the map, but at least it makes for easy farming. It's actually fun doing things this way. There are enough trees to build a tower I'm planning, especially if I trade in stone and other materials for the loads of shell and bone I'm generating from the plentiful fishing in the area. |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Phrog - 2007-09-27They actually look for glass blocks as well? The thing he dwarf was fixated on was "rough... color" and I had the three types of glass manufactured and every non-rare gem mined. He had already grabbed one piece of raw crystal glass, but after making a second, he wouldn't go for it. |
