View / ReplySubmitted by: Kazindir - 2009-07-02Not sure, I don't think I did. I don't really use siege engines at all but I was under the impression they only really work on the same z-level as target - so I had always thought it would never hit anything anyway, as it's on the first floor! :) |

View / ReplySubmitted by: Kazindir - 2009-02-01The skeleton of the Abbey is, but it needs a fair bit of roofing and outer-walling yet. The of course someone needs to decide what to do inside, as other than the Sacrificial Pit there isn't anything there - there are still even grass and trees going on the inside! |

This will be the first truly major project for this fortress. The spiral shape is to ensure the water flow moves linearly so not too much gets lost to evaporation as it fills to capacity. Also because it looks pretty.
I'm going to dig out several layers of matching size beneath it (along with some walls left in to account for the volume difference. Holes in the floor with hatches will be spaced out regularly, in vertical alignment with similar hatches above and below. The plan is thus:
1) Fill top spiral reservoir to all 7's
2) Throw the switch on the top level hatches, the level below fills almost instantly thanks to gravity, muddying every tile.
3) Throw the hatches on that level, which then empties and floods the level below. Repeat to the bottom of the map. Flush out the water at the bottom into the cave river chasm.
Blammo, instant cube-shaped tower cap farm with more area than the surface. If this works well I'll be using the same principle to level and cover the entire surface with an above ground level artificial spiral lake. -
