Looking good, Markavian. I really like the designs you've got going with this fort.

Kinda sucks about the flood, though. I hope it doesn't totally the effort you put into this fort.

The towers (particularly the detailed one) were carved straight from the cliffs. I used a "controlled collapse" method to get rid of the outside of the cliffs and get them in the shape that I want, which is done by simply digging a long stairway up the area I want to dig out, digging out all the stone on each of the floors, making channels around the area I'm going to collapse with a single dwarf, and then putting a support at the bottom connected to a lever which is pulled after removing the supporting staircase.

Also, Jackard, what do you mean by the un-removed floors? If you're referring to the areas that aren't blue surrounding the main fort, I didn't carve out the cliffs above because they stretch upwards another dozen or so z-levels, which would have made doing so a royal pain in the ass, so I omitted the step.

I hate the mud. Even after setting up grates around every entrance to the fort a patch still got in somehow and multiplied out of control despite my best efforts.

I ended up taking screens of the map right after winter because that's when there's the least amount of mud, and it's still everywhere :(

I really like this. So much that if I wasn't buried in school work right now I would probably fire up DF and build something inspired by the interesting room design you have going on.

Very aesthetically pleasing.

Tip: For tons of added wealth, engrave EVERYTHING. Masterpiece engravings add (I think) 150 or so to your wealth for every one. As such, smooth over everything until you get a legendary engraver, then have him/her detail it all. Because you only need one dwarf to do this, it is a very efficient way to increase your wealth quickly.

Oh hey, comments. I've been working on a new fort design and haven't checked on this one in quite a while, so I wasn't aware there were questions.

First off, no tools were used creating the fort (aside from Photoshop so I could plan out the dragon). Other than that, I have not used Granite.exe or anything else in its construction.

Second, the fort only utilizes about 4 legendary miners, though almost every single regular dwarf except for 1 or 2 are legendary. Also, created wealth is very low because I have not double engraved large swaths of the cavern, and am avoiding creating too many objects to keep hauling down so the game keeps up at a moderate pace. Overall, I think the wealth is at only ~6 million or so.

Finally, my own personal opinion of the fort is that it suffers from some severe problems. No immigration coupled with thousands of pieces of useless goblin equipment are slowing the fort's progress to almost nil. New designs should address these mistakes and problems.

Oh, and bridges ARE counted when checking for collapses. I've had the inner bridges that cross the chasm collapse on me when removing the wall around them.

I like the ring you put in, and was thinking of doing something like that when the next version comes out because 8-directional movement will be implemented, making it so that dwarves do not lose time having to make numerous extra horizontal and vertical movements.

I never noticed the color difference between a flooded channel and flooded non-channel tile before. Nice touch and I really like it.
